Buy a Pumpkin Save an Animal’s Life

COVID has affected most business in Las Vegas. Barn Buddies Rescue is feeling the effect tremendously. The animals still need care, everything from feeding, bedding to veterinarian visits. Like most business, they rely on visitors and events. COVID stopped everything, therefore, No visitors, No events, No money.

In October, they have a Pumpkin Sale, which they rely on to pay the bills. My Vegas Magazine sat down with Sharon Linsenbardt, the owner of THE FARM and BARN BUDDIES RESCUE.

What is THE FARM and BARN BUDDIES RESCUE:
THE FARM offers visitors an opportunity to get up close and personal with many different animals, including chickens, peacocks, ducks, geese, turkeys, goats, pigs, horses, cows, a mule, a llama, rabbits, cats, tortoises and more.

We do allow our visitors to feed some of our animals. For a small fee, we provide bags of hay to folks who would like to feed the cows, horses, goats and other animals. We will tell you exactly which animals to feed and which not to, as well as how to do it properly.

THE FARM is partnered on our property with BARN BUDDIES RESCUE, a non-profit organization established in 2012. BARN BUDDIES RESCUE is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the rescue of abused, neglected or abandoned farm animals. We provide housing, rehabilitation and holistic care for abused farm animals. We also offer educational services that promote safe habitats and care of farm animals.

What made you start it:
“Being born in Las Vegas, I knew the Valley needed a safe sanctuary for abused farm animals” States Sharon.  “I’ve loved animals all my life, and taking care of them has been my purpose for over 50 years.  They’ve saved me; now I save them.”

Tell us about the Pumpkin Sale – Fall Harvest
We’ve been selling pumpkins at our market for over 40 years.  Our selection of pumpkins and squash is arguably the best in the entire Valley. At least a dozen of otherwise hard-to-find varieties… from minuscule to massive sizes… are available for decorating, carving and baking. We will have tons and tons of pumpkins and squash for our Harvest this year! You won’t be able to find pumpkins like these anywhere else in or around Las Vegas. We take a lot of care in selecting the sizes, varieties and looks of the pumpkins that we offer, so they really are unique!

Our harvest activities will include toddler cow train, pony rides, amazing maize maze, concession stand and more. Visitors will find a large selection of specialty pumpkins and squash, along with artisanal breads, jams/jellies, our fantastic local honey and our fresh eggs from right here on THE FARM.

Upon entry EVERYONE will be asked to wash their hands, EVERYONE  2 years and above will be required to wear a mask  and we ask you to keep your family close to distance from other families as much as possible”.
