Michelle Mortensen is an Emmy award winning journalist. She is currently a member of the 8 News Now team in Las Vegas where she solves consumer problems, warns viewers about the latest scams, and saves you money in her 8 On Your Side reports.
A California native, Michelle has over a decade of experience in broadcasting. After earning two degrees at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, she started anchoring and reporting in Louisiana. She has also anchored in Arkansas, New York, Vermont, Canada and Texas. News stations under her belt include Fox, ABC and NBC affiliates.
In addition to her Emmy recognition for consumer and feature reporting, Michelle has also been honored with several awards from the Associated Press for her medical, political and investigative reports.
In her spare time Michelle enjoys traveling, and decorating her home in fun and festive ways for her husband and little one- she is always looking for creative ways to decorate on a dime. She also loves being a part of the Las Vegas community. Michelle is a member of the Las Vegas Junior League and an active member of her church, ICLV.
