The Art of Momentum It's hard to get your business off the ground, especially in a competitive market.

Standing out from the competition is tough. You need to be creative and aggressive with your marketing tactics if you want to make yourself stand out.

No matter what type of business you are in, creating momentum to build, grow, and stay on track takes great discipline. It is important to have a schedule, a plan of action, and a plan to execute. Many of us tend to only plan out the first quarter of the year and then think we will be able to move forward from there without further direction. This is a myth that many fall into the trap of: getting a great start and then falling off the train tracks quickly.

When I plan my year, I map out each month. Start with a theme for the year, the quarter, the month and then break it down to each week. If you have goals to increase your business, it is important to know what your target numbers are and then break them down backwards. Having a large, yet attainable goal is important, but being able to put it into perspective and achievable on a daily basis is even more important.

How do we create this momentum? Depending on the business you’re in, it will depend on how you set up your business plan. Most businesses that are self-employed are seeking new clients/customers. How do we get in front of them? How do we get them through our doors?

Create momentum. Momentum creates energy. When you set powerful goals and get motivated, it naturally creates momentum and energy around your business. Once you create some inspiration for your business and yourself, you will build excitement and strength for your campaign. In order to do this, it is important to stay focused, stay inspired and create good habits. We are all guilty of building momentum and then getting busy and losing the focus and drive that brought us to this place originally. It takes great discipline to stay the course.

Time Management is crucial to staying on the momentum train. Time blocking for your daily tasks are going to take you to the next level, and it must be your priority.

Being a great leader and inspiring your staff, team, clients and family to join you on this journey can be rewarding for everyone involved. It can be powerful when those around you “catch the fire.”

Create and implement your plan, whether it is employing people to help you, getting your customers involved through incentives, or creating relationships and referral networks. It can all be powerful. Create an ad campaign, through social media, mail, radio, door to door or even billboards. When you set up your business plan and build your marketing plan and budget, you will see what things you can do to reach your target audience. There are many businesses building tools that are little or no cost. Be creative and think outside the box. Have a planning meeting with your staff and incorporate their ideas into your master marketing plan. They see your business from a different angle.

My business plan for 2022 includes everything from team meetings, masterminds, collaboration events, recruiting events, continuing education classes that I teach, as well as marketing for new business. It is important to build relationships with your business associates and work together for the greater success of your business, continued growth, and momentum.
