On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, SHARE Village Las Vegas Founder, Dr. Arnold Stalk, PhD was presented with the prestigious ULI Nevada Placemaking Award for Excellence. The awards ceremony held at the World Market Center in Downtown Las Vegas celebrated a myriad of outstanding projects, achievements and leaders that have made a difference in our community.
Placemaking embraces the creation of spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being through planning, design and management.
Arnold Stalk, PhD, Founder of SHARE Village Las Vegas, commented on being recognized at the ceremony, saying, “We are truly honored to be selected and recognized by ULI Nevada. SHARE Village is committed to the development of affordable housing with supportive services and ending homelessness in America. SHARE Village has brought many positive changes and improvements to the East Downtown Las Vegas area, making it a safer place for families to live and thrive.”
Share Village Las Vegas was recognized for its building, The Wynn/PENTA Main Campus Building. Made from a repurposed ocean container, Share Village created village housing with 214 units of affordable housing. There are also two other adjacent villages, which are comprised of Share Village transitional housing which is a 56-unit repurposed motel travel lodge motel and share village family housing which is an affordable housing 20-unit community immediately adjacent to the Share Village main campus facility.
Along with these three villages, Share Village also operates a community food and market pantry. This facility is located within the Share Village main campus and in partnership with Feeding America and Three Square Regional Food Bank. Each week, two very large market pantries are held and the 500 residents the Share Village houses at night and the community at large are always welcome at these pantries.
