TISOH instructor wins national honor from the Convention Industry Council
Kate Patay, a faculty member at The International School of Hospitality (TISOH), has won national recognition from the Convention Industry Council (CIC), the largest association for the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry in the country.
The CIC recently announced its 2015 Pacesetter Award recipients, including Patay, who is the executive director of sales and marketing for Creative Coverings, a national linen rental and sales company.
“Kate Patay is constantly looking to bring a fresh approach to the job and to our classroom, eager to incorporate technology with tradition to enhance the experience of our students as well as her own,” said Timothy M. Lam, executive director of TISOH. “We’re honored to have her leading our students into great careers in the fields of meeting and event planning and design.”
Patay additionally has taken on leadership roles in other industry associations, including serving as national secretary/treasurer for the National Association of Catering and Events (NACE), and as a NACE national business partner and social media and trend expert. She is also on the advisory board of The Solace Tree, a grieving support group for Nevada children, teens and adults.
The CIC represents more than 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties involved in the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry. The mission of the Convention Industry Council is to provide a forum for member organizations to exchange information on global trends and topics, promulgate excellence in best practices and guidelines, collaborate on industry issues and advocate the value of the meetings, conventions, exhibitions and events industry.
