Mrs. Weeks Helps Art Students Succeed

Rebecca Weeks, art teacher at Bailey Middle School, went the extra mile to bring a positive light to her students. Art is a form of self-expression and especially in these times students need an outlet to express themselves. After weeks of distance learning, she recognized that her students were more engaged in art than ever before. Students may feel comfortable enough to show their work from their own space because when they hold it up to the camera, they can hide behind their art. This meant Ms. Weeks had to step up. With the help of social services at her school, they visited families during home visits and delivered backpacks full of art supplies. Ms. Weeks was awarded the National Education Association Pacific Region Middle Level Art Educator Award because of her selflessness and dedication to her students.
